Juan David Ortiz(36) was denied a bond reduction by 406th District Court Judge Oscar J. Hale Jr. The former Border Patrol agent was indicted on several charges and remains in custody on a bail of just over $2.5 million dollars.
He was arrested in September of last year when a woman identified as Erika Peña fled from Ortiz who was holding her captive. After his arrest he confessed to killing Melissa Ramirez (29), Claudine Anne Luera (42) Guiselda Alicia Hernández (35), and Nikki Enriquez (28). The murders occurred over a 12-day period.
