Nearly 120 homes were left without power the night of May 18th and law enforcement was tasked with finding the driver of an 18 wheeler that left the scene.
Residents near the intersection of Victoria and Barron off of Efren Ramirez in Roma were left without power when an 18 wheeler damaged power lines and left the area. DPS troopers were called to the area and took statements from residents that gave a description of the truck. While repairmen from AEP worked on repairing the line and restoring service troopers continued to search for the driver. An 18 wheeler with North Carolina plates was stopped in Rio Grande City near Highway 83 and Claudio Garcia. The driver was questioned and given a field sobriety test but an arrest was not made that night nor was it confirmed if he was the driver law enforcement were looking for.
Service was repaired in the early hours of the following day.
