Two women were arrested in connection to a robbery attempt in the Alto Bonito area.
I’m a press release dispersed by the Starr County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, December 21, 2018 Starr County Deputies responded to an assistance call in reference to an aggravated robbery.
Deputies made contact with the La Grulla Police Department officers who had made contact with a female who stated that she and her boyfriend were at the parking lot of the Hillside Grocery store located on 6924 E Hiway 83 Rio Grande City, Texas. Victims were then approached by a female wearing a rag on her face, black gloves and a hoodie and demanded money. Approximately $600 where stolen from the victims. Female suspect then drives off on a dark colored Chevrolet Cruize. Victims contact law enforcement and victims proceed to look for the suspect’s vehicle. They then locate the vehicle and relay to law enforcement via 911.
Two females were detained and identified as 31 year old female Daniela Aranda and 23 year old female Abigail Cantu. Both females are from the Alto Bonito area. A black plastic toy gun and black gloves were recovered from the vehicle. Both suspects were transported to the Starr County Sheriff’s Office. Both were charged with aggravated robbery. Abigail was charged with escape while arrested/confined after she managed to slip the handcuffs off and ran outside the Sheriff’s Office and was immediately taken into custody.
Approximately $495 were recovered from Abigail after she was searched at the Starr County Detention Center.
