Two Rio Grande City women were arrested last week after attempting to smuggle crystal methamphetamines.
Martha Esthela Salinas and Martha Carmona were traveling in a 2002 Chevy Silverado at the Rio Grande City – Camargo Port of Entry last Friday. The vehicle was referred to a secondary inspection. As a result, CBP officers referred the vehicle for an X-Ray exam and found anomalies in all four tires. CBP officers found 100 pounds of crystal methamphetamines in the tires. Starr County HIDTA investigators took over this investigation and arrested two females identified as Martha Esthela Salinas and Martha Carmona of Rio Grande City, Texas. HIDTA investigators seized the narcotics and the vehicle. Both females were charged with possession of a controlled substance, 1st Degree Felony and they were taken to the Starr County Detention Center for processing.
